Agent Deployment​

First, we will perform the discovery of a few agents by installing them. This manageable set helps understand the environment and aids scalability.

Steps to deploy an agent:​

  1. Install an agent – Scripts to install agents are present here - Install Agents
  2. Tag them – For this, we need to set up tag rules.

Example of a location tag rule:​

Under tags go to 'Tag Label Rules':​
  • Select 'Create Tag Label Rule'
  • Add a 'Name' and a 'Description'
  • In the 'Rule Critera', select 'Add Rule Criteria' and then select a filter by clicking on 'include'. In this case it would be 'subnet'.
  • In the Apply tags, select 'Add Tag Value' and then add a 'tag name' and a 'tag value'.
  • Click on 'Create'

From the above example, all assets in subnet 172.16.0.0/24 are tagged as location Santa Clara.

Similarly, we can create tag rules for environment, applications, business value, and so on...

Tag Label Rules

At the end of this activity, the Dashboard should show 0 untagged assets. If not, then users must try to tag all the remaining assets.

Once the assets have been tagged properly, we then start making segments.
